Inventathon is an interdisciplinary competition where teams of 3-5 participants work to create an invention that encompasses a given theme. Each team can choose to develop a conceptual program, product prototype, or business model. After 24 hours, teams will present their project to a panel of judges from various industries, mirroring a Dragon's Den style pitch. The highest ranked 5 teams will qualify to finals round, where they will compete to win the competition. Inventathon will allow for students to develop practical and applicable skills involving innovation and problem solving, while being provided with the opportunity to establish connections with like-minded peers and professionals in the industry.
United Nations SDG Youth Training Summit
Last fall, Enactus University of Alberta collaborated with Enactus MacEwan to run Edmonton’s first-ever Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Training Summit on Saturday, October 14th, 2017. This event empowered 200 youth in Edmonton through training sessions by the Foundation for Environmental Stewardship and riveting talks by speakers versed in sustainability including The Earth Group, Babatomiwa Adesia from the United Nations SDG Fund, Dr. Leo Wong and more.
Our annual event aims to celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation within the community. We bring together students, local entrepreneurs, and industry leaders for an evening of keynote speeches on the topics of leadership and innovation. This past March, our gala featured speakers Debra Greig, founder of TransforMana, as well as Sahr Saffa, founder of C-Tribe Festival.
